Welcome to Stars Ministries Uganda!

Stars (PWD) participating at a recent awareness match in Kampala
Welcome to Stars Ministries Uganda (SMU) blog. Here, you will find updates of our work and information on how to get involved.

Stars Ministries Uganda (SMU) is a non-profit organization working with people with disabilities (PWDs), children especially, and their families, in the Luzira area of Kampala district, in Uganda. The organization started its ministry operations in 2016 with formal registration of its first beneficiaries in March 2016 and had its very first program activity in May 2016. Currently, SMU is working with thirty-six Stars (PWDs) and their families.

The ministry’s aim is to share the love of Christ, by encouraging and supporting families that have people affected by disability and create awareness in the church and the community about disability. The ministry desires to see local churches embrace Disability Ministry by accepting PWD as part of the community and support them to be involved in church and community activities.
The ministry’s vision is to see the needs of People with Disabilities, including their need for God, being met by the church.

SMU works in partnership with the Church, with the aim of reaching out to people with disabilities in order to meet their spiritual and physical needs.

The ministry is hosted at The City Church, in Luzira community (for a Fellowship meeting designed for people with disabilities on Wednesdays), and at The Stars Daycare & Learning Center, which runs from Monday to Friday, on Mutungo circuit road, opposite Ten Hillside Residence.

The Stars Center, which is run by volunteers, offers basic classes to facilitate learning for a few Stars who have the ability to learn. The Stars also receive a meal, daycare, and sessions for parents to share learning, experiences, and encouragement. The Daycare allows parents time to work and support their families without worrying about their Stars, most of whom need full-time support.

Get involved by committing to give financial or material resources, volunteer to serve at the Stars Center or in the weekly (Wednesday) service, and by praying regularly for the Stars and the ministry.

Financial gifts can be received through the Ministry bank account, Mobile Money service, or can be delivered at the Center. You can also give online through our ministry partners: Faith and Learning International, on the electronic giving link.
